Why Yoga & Detox?

Generally, we clever humans only think about our health when we have a problem. Then we look for a solution or go to the doctor.
But what if we were to regularly spend dedicated time practising some intensive yoga and juice fasting to boost our immunity so that we are much less likely to get sick in the first place? That’s what our Yoga Detox programs do for you.
Together we will follow a super healthy routine, engaging the power of our holistic rejuvenation system. We combine juice fasting, yoga therapy, energy foods and meditation to build good health naturally.
Our 10-day program will give your digestive system a well-deserved vacation. You will release energy to heal, you will feel more vital and nutritionally satisfied thanks to the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and healing phytonutrients of the juices we’ll prepare. This comprehensive program will teach you simple and effective techniques to take charge of your own health and transform your life!

About the experience

“Thank you again for the whole experience.
The yoga and detox retreat was powerfully life-enhancing for me. I experienced my body, mind and spirit as all being cleansed and benefited. I was especially impressed with how the wellness team worked together to provide such a positive and supportive environment for all. Plus, the place is magical with the ancient pyramids and caves nearby. Highly recommend the experience!” -Shamana Valenzuela, USA

“So here’s the plan. I’m going there again in November [2023 and 2024] for this 10 day yoga detox. The first time I did a detox like this I noticed two main things:

  • It was a lot easier than I expected
  • By the end I was so full of vitality, I felt like I’d added 5 years to my life!

So, if you want a taste of that, maybe you’d like to join me.” -Dada Nabhaniilananda, Los Altos Hills, CA

“I loved the support, great people, and experience. I couldn’t have done it myself without the willpower of others.” -Hayley Mitchell, Asheville, NC

“The presentations – excellent! The yoga was very good and lovingly personal. Ramesh and Sid’s leadership was awesome, gentle, and knowledgeable. The center is so clean and beautiful.” -Carla Derosa, Atlanta, GA

“The entire experience was great. A caring, loving staff and instructors, comfortable accommodations, magnificent scenery, perfect vibes.” -Andrew Pietak, Marietta, GA

“The first time I did this program was already many years ago. I not only enjoyed it but also found great benefit to my health. I like very much the idea that prevention is better than the cure so I have been doing this program almost every year since. I think already 7 times! The last year many exiting outings were added which made it even more special as beside improving your health you also get to see many great things like mind-blowing caves and doing a mud bath in the setting of a beautiful spring-fed water park with a real taste of Mexico. In fact I liked it so much that I am now a volunteer helping to organize this program. And for anyone worried about getting from the airport to our place we have optional full pick up service.” – Kees Boekhoven, The Netherlands. *

*** Fly into Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (code MEX). Do not fly to the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport (code NLU) We will not be able to pick you up from there and there is hardly any public transport to get to the place to take a bus. As the communication is so bad and Uber is not allowed the taxis charge astronomical rates. That said most flights do fly into MEX. The money you may save flying into NLU is most likely not worth it!

Also keep in mind that you could take an Uber or DiDi from the airport to our place for $60 to $100 depending on the time of day. We have to charge more as we need to go both ways and park the car in the airport.

Travel Information

If you are a seasoned traveler and want to make your own way to our center there are detailed instructions below.

Arrival & Departure

By Flight:

Fly to Mexico City (MEX) Do not fly into FLU, the new airport that one is very complicated.

1) On arrival book a registered Airport Taxi or use your app to book an Uber or DiDi: This will cost you around $80 – $150 all the way depending on the time of day. DiDi is normally cheapest, Uber in the middle and Airport Taxi most expencive.

2) Take the Airport bus to Cuernavaca Casino this costs around $25. It’s a really good bus and does not stop anywhere in between. The bus terminal is in the airport itself. From Cuernavaca we can come to pick you up ($30), you can take a taxi ($20-25) or take one of the many buses that go to Xochicalco ($2-4). The one via the autopista (toll road) is fastest. Once in Xochicalco get down at the Oxxo (convenience store like 7/11) in Xochicalco and walk as per the instructions below. Below you can also find more details on how to get to us from Cuernavaca. Optionally we can pick you up from Cuernavaca.

3) Faster and cheaper than 2) is to take a Taxi/Uber/DiDi to Taxquena (Bus Terminal Sur) and follow the instrucions “By Bus from Taxquena” below.

4) Optionally we can pick you up in the arrival hall. This is $150 (we have to go two ways and airport parking) and you can book it on the registration form. Of course if you travel with more people only one needs to book it.

By Car: (In case you have one or rent one)

Get on the autopista from Mexico City to Acapulco. About 25Km after Cuernavaca there is an exit to Alpuyeca, cross this town following the signs to Xochicalco (direction Miacatlan) Once in Xochicalco turn right at the Oxxo taking the main road towards the pyramids. After about 250m there is a health center on the left. Just after that turn left on the unpaved road and go down for 150 meters. You’ll see our center and the welcome banner for the retreat. There is also a Ananda Marga sign on the main road.

The easiest is to use google maps. It will get you there by entering “Ananda Marga Retreat Center, Xochicalco, Morelos” in the search bar.

By Bus from Taxquena CDMX:
1) During the day there are hourly busses (Pullman de Morelos) that pass Xochicalco. When booking your ticket you have to get a ticket to El Rodeo (Morelos) which is about a mile after Xochicalco. Ask the driver to let you off at the Oxxo in Xochicalco. From there it’s 5 min walk from there and the instructions are above. It’s about 10 -15 minutes drive after you get off the highway. The last direct bus is around 7-8 pm from Taxquena depending on the day. Again, it’s easy to follow your journey on Google Maps

2) If there are no more busses to El Rodeo, look for a bus to Alpuyeca Caseta. From there you can take a taxi, combi or request us to pick you up.

By Bus from Cuernavaca:

Once in Cuernavaca at the Central Terminal there are many buses that stop in Xochicalco. You may have to ask for El Rodeo or Miacatlan. Xochicalco is just before El Rodeo and the bus can drop you at the Oxxo in Xochicalco. Near Terminal Casino (about 10 min walk) there is a bus terminal for “Lasser” They also go to Xochicalco and stop almost in front of our place. They take the federal road which takes a bit more time.

By Bus from other towns:
Unless you come from the direction of Acapulco, best is to get to either Cuernavaca or CDMX and then follow the instructions for those towns already mentioned above.

I trust one of those options will get you here easily. If really needed I can pick you up at Alpuyeca caseta, especially in case it’s already late. Do let me know in advance your arrival time so we can plan and you don’t have to wait too long.

.

Arriving early or departing late

Arrive before the registration opens
As long as there are no other programs, you will be welcome to arrive any time, we just can’t guarantee that your room will be ready. If you do come early expect some busy preparations going on. You could help out with those preparations, relax in a way that the preparations are not disturbed or you could leave your luggage and explore Xochicalco 🙂

Depart late on the ending day
This will also not be a problem but you may have to leave your room so we can clean up. If you would join an other meal let us know. See if you can help out with the cleaning or you could go and explore Xochicalco 🙂

Extra days:
If anyone wants to arrive earlier and or depart later than the official dates, you are most welcome as long as there are no other programs. You will need to let us know in advance so we can make sure we can accommodate you and have enough food. With the fasting programs, sometime people want to continue their juice fast for more days. Check with us if we can offer this. If possible the day before and after can already be booked on the registration form. More days can be requested and worked out independently of the registration form.
